Hi Mamta!
As you are the undisputed guru in these matters I thought I'd run this by you. I took the lazy option at the weekend and got a takeaway Indian - am hanging my head in shame! - but must admit that it was delicious. It was a chicken Ceylon. Obviously the restaurant only gives a fairly general description of the dish, but I would love to know if you have any authentic recipes for this dish so that I can try it at home?
Many thanks.
Hey Fleur
There are many different styles of curry in Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, so it's hard to know which style you enjoyed.
Here's a recipe mum has on the site: http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=10524
Is this anything like it?
If not tell us more about it.
Kavita
Hi Kavey!
Yes - this certainly sounds like it. What I liked about it, was that it was nice and spicy but you could still taste the coconut (which I love) Also it didn't have huge chunks of tomato bulking it out. I like tomato, but don't want it to take over the curry and I really dislike it when restaurants put whole tomatoes simply to bulk it out I'm guessing.
Anyway, thanks for the link. Will give it a go soon....
You're welcome...
Let us know how it compares and how you like it!
Don't be ashamed of using a takeaway, sometimes it can be the best way to try something and see what its like. This then as you have done gives you the passion to want to make it yourself - welcome to my world..

Oh hey, I LOVE my Indian takeaways! And Indian restaurants too.
Some of the dishes are pretty close to some of mum's recipes (albeit with more oil or ghee) and others are nothing like but I enjoy all kinds of cuisine and that includes anglicised Indian as well as authentic Indian!
