Am now hoping we do get some takers and aren't the sad long-term owners of a stack of (gorgeous) aprons!!! ;)

I must admit I was impressed with it, I've bought several aprons over the years (due to being a sad food anorak) in different countries and such. These have all just been a bit of material cut to shape with a ribbon on and something printed on the fronts.

The Mamtas Kitchen Aprons are in a new league altogether ! In fact they are much stronger and better made than the one I had for wood work at school and that came from my dads works who worked with chemicals ! On top of the build quality they are also big enough to go around (and thats unusual on me) and the logo isn't just a poor print - Worth every penny if you ask me.

Aaw, thanks...

I basically decided if we were going to offer an apron we were only going to do it if I could offer one I'd choose to buy myself. So we hunted for a while to find one that was both sturdy enough for professionals and also of a size/ shape/ design we liked. I was keen to have the design embroidered rather than printed on - I think it looks much more luxurious and yet kind of homely at the same time!

I can't tell you how pleased I am with how well they've turned out!

Well, we were working on doing a calendar. We'd worked through a process of getting samples and agreeing what we wanted in terms of size, paper, cover, binding but the pricing came out much higher than we'd expected from the first discussions so we've put that on hold. To find another printer and go through the pricing and samples process again just doesn't leave us enough lead time to get the project done for the end of this year which is when we'd need to be selling a 2008 calendar. But we're really keen to do it for next year and may start working on a 2009 one soon.

Some of our regulars have also suggested we publish a book with selected recipes, full colour photos and a little more content around the recipes - mum's memories and stories... but that kind of projet takes a LOT of time to put together and we don't know whether there would be a market given that people can get the same recipes from the site for free. Not even sure how to go about finding that out!

If you or other visitors have feedback on the above and/or ideas for other items - do let us know!

I think a book with the stories behind the recipes would be great ! A lot of the things I cook have come from being on holiday and such, might make a good recipe cross story book !

For those who like food and such I'm sure having more background to the recipes would be worth getting the book for even if you could get the recipes online.

If the book idea comes about its bound to go to film, can you get Van Diesel to play my part as helper on the board?..... LOL

Reading this thread alarm bells are starting to ring in my head. Please please please don't remove the recipes from this site - if a book were published there would be copyright issues I'm sure with the recipes published on this site. Although maybe not as they would be Mamta's recipes - I am thinking aloud here can you tell...

Having said that I think it's a great idea and would definitely buy it.

On 21/08/2007 12:08pm, Kavey wrote:

Er - where did we suggest we'd remove recipes from the site?

We are not intending to do that in any way shape or form. The book, IF we produced such a thing, would simply be an extra product with extra information and pictures, that supporters could purchase if they fancied it.

On 21/08/2007 12:08pm, Kavey wrote:

BTW if we went ahead with the book, we'd obviously only include Mamta's recipes, not any of those contributed by readers... there would be no copyright issues.

On 21/08/2007 01:08pm, AskCy wrote:

Had presumed that, as it would have to be called "Mamtas Kitchen and lots of other bits added by people who posted on the board" lol

The way I see it would be much more of the stories around the meals, how things have changed, why they were done in this or that style and then the actual recipe to go along with it - rather than your standard recipe type book - ?

Yes - certainly we'd be looking to "add value" as they say in the business world - i.e. provide something more than you could find for free on the site already.

What you need to add to the list is an oven proof teatowel that doesn't end up in the wash when I've put something in the oven and then I can't take it back out... lol
