Respected Mamta Ji
I inquired in the market about alsi seed. It rated Rs. 60/ Kg. Wheather these seeds can be used as it is kept in jute bags in an ordinary way? I came to know that alsi seed or its oil should not be kept in sun light. I also want to know before grinding alsi seed it need to be roasted or not?

Hi Pramod
Hello Pramod
I live in UK and dry things do not go bad here quickly. However, anything that has oil in it, like alsi/flax seeds do, is likely to go bad over a period of time. I would suggest that you keep them in a cool place.
I buy a small packet at a time, grind the seeds and keep them in a jar. I then add the powder to chapatti flour/creal or anything else that I want to add it to. As far as I know, whole Alsi/Flax seeds are not digested and passed out undigested.

I bought flax seeds in Mapusa market in Goa and they were full of rat droppings and stones. At first I thought there were just stones in there but on further inspection found the rat droppings. I now take my own from Holland and Barrat.
Yes flax seeds are not digested but it is suggested that they should be ground first.
Oh my God, rat dropping?? I hope they washed the food they cooked!

I bought it to grind to put on my porridge - put it in the bin!!!
Bought it from another shop and it was just the same.
