Just wanted to confirm the ashtmi date you have on your Festivals page. I have the date as 16 August this year whereas you list it as 31 August.

Now I am in a dilemma!! Could you please clarify?

You are right, it is not on 31st. According to the Panchang calendar I have, it is on 15/16 August. I will double check it for you from India and let you know later today or tomorrow.

Just heard from india, it is difinitely on the 16th of August.

For those of you who do not know what it is, it is the birthday celebration of God Krishna :-).

I'm curious now, does this date change each year?.. is it like some of the Christian fesitvals that aren't a set date(like 31st) but are set with things like the first Friday in such a month, or the first day of the new moon in august..

Most of the Hindu festivals are based on Lunar calendar, which has 12 months;
